When Larsnes Mek Verksted in Sande municipality, Møre og Romsdal, planned a new rock-excavated dock, they needed a contractor capable of handling extensive and demanding concrete works.
A. Våge AS was awarded the design-and-build contract for all concrete works, taking responsibility from structural design through to completed structures.
The new dock measures 24 × 130 metres, with a depth of 15 metres and a hall height of 32 metres. These dimensions, combined with several different concrete structures, demanded careful planning, precision and coordination.
In addition to the dock itself, we delivered three external quays totalling approximately 3,000 m², two precast concrete culverts for pumped water discharge, insulated concrete elements for the concrete parapet around the dock hall, and the structural design of all structures.
A. Våge AS was also responsible for project coordination, health and safety, and quality throughout the construction project.
When a project comprises many large and technically demanding structures, good coordination is essential. Bringing design, concrete works and project follow-up together under one contractor allowed the different deliveries to be considered as a whole throughout construction.
The project began in 2021 and was completed in 2023. The result is an extensive dock and quay facility demonstrating the breadth of our concrete expertise, from large in-situ structures and quays to precast concrete elements and culverts.
